Barry entered the Real Estate Industry in July 1979.
Prior to that Barry had worked in the Travel Industry for varying periods with Duty Free Stores at Auckland International Airport, with the National Airways Corporation in both Auckland and Tauranga, with Associated Travel Agencies Ltd in Tokoroa and Hamilton as a Travel Consultant and as a Sales Representative at Mount Cook Airlines based in Auckland.
Barry joined Coveny Real Estate in 1979 and later joined Ace Real Estate in 1980 where he specialised in residential and section sales including the marketing of the Ascot Mews, Waiwherowhero and Raungawari subdivisions.
After qualifying by exams in 1984 Barry was admitted as an Associate of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand in 1985. In 1987 Barry became a Partner and Director of Ace Real Estate Ltd that in 1997 began trading as Ray White United.
Barry spent some time as Manager of the Hamilton East Branch however in 1994 he returned to full time selling and since that change Barry has been:
